What makes a great .info domain name?
Since most people looking for information on the web will automatically type in .com after a domain name you will probably have to develop your .info domain to get traction with the search engines and links to your site in order to get visitor traffic. More on that later...
In our opinion, great .info domains have to be memorable and make sense to the user. It is also nice to have a short name if possible.
What do we mean by the domain name making sense to the user?
Try substituting the word 'information' in the name instead of 'info'. We think that our domain name - infodomainname.info makes sense. Another domain name we own - stillphotography.info also seems to make good sense - it's good english.
Now let's look at some names which just don't seem to make sense.
Here is one that was registered but as of this writing was dropped and is available. aebi.info - a short name to be sure, but what does it mean? If you manufactured a product called an aebi I could see it. But just because it is short does not make it a good name.
How about longer names. Here is one dropped today (3/7/09) - accountingarticles.info - does the term 'accounting articles information' sound good to you? Would it be better as 'accounting article information'? Here is another one 'advertising outdoor information' - What do you think? We think that 'outdoor advertising information' is lots better.
